
The
Government of Maharashtra has undertaken the most ambitious and future
transforming scheme called “Galmukta Dharan – Galyukta Shivar”. It is aimed to rejuvenate around 3145 dams,
lakes, ponds and other water bodies and increase soil fertility by spreading
silt in the agro fields in the vicinity of villages. It envisages raining ground water table. This whole exercise would not only help in
improving agricultural productivity but also efficiency of dams.SSM is association with Caring Friends (Mumbai) works collectively with Government of Maharashtra to strategically plan and implement the scheme at ground level as well. Under the Scheme Government bears fuel expenses for JCB Where as farmers should transport silt to their farms on their own.
SSM has planned to desilt nearly 100 lakes in the months of
March, April and May. On 8th
Feb 2018 Nanded District Collector Shri Arun Dongare has auspiciously set
beginning of three months task. SSM
project co-ordinator Shri Vasant Rawangaonkar said that desilting of lakes is
being carried out on mission mode.
